Marine- and transport insurance
The firm advises on all areas of maritime- and transport insurance, including hull, P&I, loss of hire, shipbuilding, freight, inland waterway hull and inland waterway P&I, cargo insurance, CMR liability insurance, freight forwarding, warehousing and warehouse keepers liability insurance. Our clients include foreign and domestic insurance associations as well as individual insurance companies whom we advise on the drafting of insurance conditions in the aforementioned areas, the adaptation of general terms and conditions to special cover concepts, claims handling, the drafting of captive insurance solutions for the maritime industry, re-insurance, in particular in respect of commutation and Run Off situations and advise re-insurers in connection with Claims Cooperation Clauses.
Other business and trade insurance
Aside from the maritime and transport industry the firm advises clients in all other business and trade sectors, such as fire insurance, business interruption insurance, machinery insurance, electronic equipment insurance (EII) pecuniary damage liability insurance and D&O insurance.
It is also in these areas that we actively support insurers in recovery actions, in particular in fire and business interruption recoveries.
Insurance supervision law
We provide legal advice and assistance to foreign and German underwriters in all matters of supervision, public policy and compliance issues, the licensing for conducting insurance business as well as assisting with the drafting of business plans and in relation to conditions imposed by the Regulating Board.
Insurance broking
This area is experiencing a rapid development as hardly any major cover dispute is without issues involving the broker’s due performance. We support the brokering industry in the implementation of brokering regulations and the defence against liability claims.
