Dr. Jan Tjarko Eichhorn , born 1975, qualified as a German lawyer in 2006. Jan T. Eichhorn read law at the Georgia-Augusta-University in Goettingen and at the University of Hamburg. He was awarded with his law doctorate by the University of Hamburg in 2004. Based on his thesis on online-insurances he specialised in international insurance and trade law.
Whilst at university he also worked for an import-export company in Emden, Germany. During his legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Braunschweig Jan T. Eichhorn was engaged in various areas of commercial law and transport business which included a training at Dabelstein & Passehl, Hamburg and at a New York firm specialising in maritime and insurance law.
Furthermore, his traineeship included the Chamber of Commerce at the District Court of Goettingen. After completing his legal education Jan T. Eichhorn joined Dabelstein & Passehl to support their Ems-Office.
Focus of Practice:
His areas of activity comprise insurance and transport law – specialising in international carriage of goods by sea and road (CMR, German Commercial Code), maritime trade law and marine insurance law (with special emphasis on P&I and Charterers’ Liability) including ship registration, ship financing as well as sale and purchase and shipbuilding contracts.
